| Raised as a pampered princess in a priviledged British household in colonial India, eleven year old Sara is unprepared for enrollment in an exclusive London girls' finishing school. When her beloved father dies improverished as a result of bad investments, she becomes a servant to the imperious headmistress Miss Minchin and is banished to a boarder's bare attic bedroom. With imagination and pluck, Sara rises above her situation. She discovers some valuable friends in her classmates and by trusting an exotic Indian neighbor, learns the true story of her father's death. Sara endures her tribulations as a caring, loving person....a true princess. Her rescue from Miss Minchin's clutches brings the play to a happy conclusion. |
